Climbing Instruction

First Time?

First time climbers ages 14 and older will need to go through a lesson to learn safety, knots, and belaying (how to hold the ropes) before climbing*. This lesson takes about one hour. Kids ages 8 – 13 will participate in the first 15 minutes of the lesson and kids under 8 will not participate in the lesson. Technique Lessons

The key to becoming a better climber is not to build huge muscles; it’s to improve your technique! Private and semi-private technique lessons with our experienced instructors are available by appointment. Lessons are geared toward your individual skill level, from beginner to expert. Lead Climbing

Climbers with the experience and abilities to climb at a more advanced level are eligible to learn lead climbing. Lead climbing opens up the opportunity climb ALL routes in the gym as well as at renowned outdoor climbing areas such as The Red River Gorge in Kentucky and the New River Gorge in West Virginia.

If you are interested in learning to lead climb, ask a Planet Rock staff person for more information. The cost for a lead lesson is $45 and must arranged by appointment.
